Chemical laboratories at GSI are equipped with world class facility for analysing geological and other materials. The Laboratories are having modern instruments like ICP-MS, ICP-AES, XRF, AAS with GTA, Orion Ion analyser, Graphite furnace and Hydride Generator, UV visible Spectrophotometers, Multiline P4-SET 3 kit to cater the need of wide range of analysis. Assessment & confirmation of quantitative amount of various major, minor and trace elements in ore, soil, rock, core, grab, water sample of geological / environmental importance are regularly done in these laboratories by experienced teams of chemists well versed in analysing geological materials.
There are in all 21 chemical laboratories situated in different parts of India including CHQ, regional headquarters and operational units and wings (Bihar, Orissa, PH-HP, J & K, Gujarat, Maharashtra, MP, Tamilnadu, Kerala apart form Marine Wing offices at Visakhapatnam and Mangalore.
The laboratories cater to the analysis of internal samples as received from the various projects/Directorates as well to the demand of outside agencies on payment of scheduled charges.
