GSI has the necessary expertise and facilities for undertaking various
aspects of environmental appraisal and impact assessment. It has expertise
in acquisition and integration of geoscience data (necessary for EIA and
EMP studies) from primary and secondary sources using state of art technology.
GSI is regularly carrying out environmental hazards zonation mapping in
mineral sector and also conducting studies pertaining to urban / rural
development and natural hazards.
Its overall knowledge of ore bodies, their nature and exploration helps GSI
in holistic planning of environmental management of mines and waste disposal
management.
